A study in the US claim that eating dark chocolate is more beneficial than drinking fruit juice. However, noteworthy is the research was sponsored by the Hershey chocolate company.
With a myriad of benefits contained in it, Brown was often referred to as a super food (superfood). Research shows, dark chocolate contains high levels of antioxidants as well as other substances that help prevent cell damage.
Scientists from the Hershey Centre for Health & Nutrition in the u.s. in his research stating that dark chocolate in the form of powder has more antioxidants and polifenols, both of which can protect the body from cancer and heart disease.
As published in the journal Chemistry Central Journal, researchers compare the content of antioksikan in a couple of drinks like dark chocolate, cocoa, and fruits such as juice, cranberry and acaiberry pomegranate fruit.
The results show good drinks, dark chocolate and cocoa showed a stronger antioxidant activity and accounts for more than a flavonol fruit. Blueberry and cranberry cocoa beat in terms of antioxidants. But cocoa powder is still less than a Pomegranate juice.
"Cocoa beans should be considered as ' superfruit ' and products derived from cocoa extracts, such as natural cocoa powder and chocolate black labeled ' superfoods, '" said the researcher.
