Tempe Reduce Risk Of Heart Disease

Tempe Reduce Risk Of Heart Disease: Menopause is a natural process in females characterized by decreased ovarian function which resulted in a decrease in the production of estrogen. Exposure to estrogen it brings a wide range of issues, one being the increased risk of heart disease.

A decrease in estrogen production causes blood fat metabolism disorder so that it will worsen blood lipids profile and oxidation in the body so that vulnerable women suffering from coronary heart disease.
Description of how this is what encourages Diah Mulyawati Utari doing research studies Ph.d in Human Nutrition Courses, graduate school (SPs) Bogor agricultural University (IPB) and brings the benefits of tempe to women menopause.

The title of the dissertation which he arranges, i.e. "the effect of Intervention on Lipid Profile, Tempe Superoxide Dismutase, Malondialdehyde and Oxidized LDL on Women Menopause", was released the IPB Community Relationships through electronic mail to the Compass, Thursday (7/7/2011).

Following his speech he. Easily oxidized lipids in the body resulting in the formation of peroksidasi lipid characterized by increased malondialdehyde (MDA). The high levels of MDA can be used as an indicator of radicals in the body. Excess free radicals is a risk factor degenerative diseases such as heart disease, stroke, and cancer. Lipids in cholesterol-LDL in particular (K-LDL) are known as bad cholesterol is the main target of oxidation.

The oxidation of LDL in the K-factor is one of the main blockage of blood vessels. To prevent the occurrence of the required presence of antioxidants, one of them is an endogenous antioxidant namely superoxide dismutase (SOD) which is the first defense against the process of oxidation in the body.

Does it say, in 10-12 years, research on the benefits of soy protein and isoflavones-increasing and deep, and prove that the consumption of soy is not just improved some aspects of health in menopausal women, but also improve heart health.

We know, tempe is a traditional food is very popular in Indonesia. The fermentation process to make the levels of amino acids, fatty acids, and isoflavones in tempeh is much higher than soy.

He says, some research on the intervention of the tempe has been done in Indonesia, but so far not yet known comprehensively to influence tempe lipid profile, SOD, MDA, and oxidized LDL on women menopause as a group at risk of having coronary heart disease. "I am interested in researching this," he said.

His research was carried out in the city of Bogor with a total sample of 53 female menopause. The ladies of menopause are given 160 grams tempe daily for four weeks.

The amount equivalent to four pieces of tempe size medium. Tempe is steamed for 10 minutes and then mixed with certain herbs so that it becomes ready for food.

As for the criteria of the samples in this study were women's natural menopause, menopausal ranges from 1 to 5 years, one of abnormal lipid profile, there are sick or have a history of degenerative disease, not taking any medications and supplements, do not use estrogen therapy, not a vegetarian, and willing to comply with regulations during research. Sample dijaring by mail integrated active coaching that is in the city of Bogor.

Food analysis suggests that the tempe amino acids are arginine tallest in tempe and the highest is the fatty acids linoleic acid. Tempe is also rich in isoflavones and was relatively tenable if tempe processed by steaming (not Skillets).

Results of statistical tests show that as many as 160 grams of tempe daily for four weeks can improve the lipid profile i.e. lower total cholesterol levels, K-LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglycerides. tempe also can increase the activity of antioxidant enzymes and MDA and SOD decreases in LDL oxidation. The results of this research as a means to show that tempe has the ability to lower the risk factor of coronary heart disease.

From this research, Diah suggested that the Government improve the socialization of tempe as a food that has benefits for health. The public are advised to increase the consumption of tempe on a daily basis on an ongoing basis, especially on women menopause as well as other groups which have a high risk of coronary heart disease.

Diah also sent a message, to get the maximum effect to health, should be processed by means of tempe steamed and avoid processing by FRY. Regarding the amount of the consumption, Diah tempe recommend around 150-160 grams per day or the equivalent of 3-4 pieces tempeh size medium. Tempe Reduce Risk Of Heart Disease

Pomegranates Can Prevent Heart Disease and Cancer

In Javanese culture including fruit pomegranate dipaling sought in the tradition of seven monthly pregnant women. Whereas, if pomegranate consumed each day we'll get a myriad of health benefits. Numerous scientific studies have proved it.

One of the benefits of the most famous is the pomegranate protects the heart. A research shows Pomegranate juice consumption about 8 ounces per day for 3 months will be formed to reduce bad cholesterol levels, improve blood circulation to the heart in patients with coronary heart disease, reducing the narrowing of the arteries that supply blood to the brain, as well as lower blood pressure.

Pomegranate turns to have anticancer content. The fruit is red and sweet this will make the cancer cells destroys himself or collectively, the process of apoptosis.

Research in the lab show that Pomegranate juice is not given the sweetener will trigger apoptosis in breast cancer cells, prostate and colon by way of activating genes and enzymes that regulate apoptosis.

Benefits of pomegranates is caused because of Pomegranate juice has a three times higher in antioxidants than green tea or red wine. As known antioxidants will fight the free radicals that damage the DNA which can trigger the onset of cancer.

Super Spaghetti Can Lower The Risk Of Heart Disease

Soon we will have a "good" way to reduce the risk of heart disease. Scientists from Italy and Spain have said they are developing a type of pasta made from barley flour which is good for the heart.

Barley, serelia type which is now more widely used as a source of flavor in beer and whisky industry contains protein gluten. It also contains carbohydrates and proteins are quite high, as well as folic acid, iron and calcium. Barley is also rich in fiber, antioxidants and vitamin e.

According to Vito Verardo, PhD from the University of Bologna in Italy, and Ana Maria Gomes-Caravaca, PhD from the University of Granada, Spain, no longer will be available in the market pasta barley that are labeled "reduce heart disease and the best source of fibre".

In creating this latest pasta, scientists must first find out if they can make Spaghetti and other pasta types as "functional foods" with the use of raw barley to add fiber and antioxidants. Scientists develop new thereafter barley flour which contain a variety of nutrients essential for good health.

As expected, researchers say spaghetti made of barley flour contains more fiber and antioxidants compared to conventional spaghetti made of semolina, types of flour.

They also mention additional gluten in wheat and barley will increase the flavor quality of cuisine in the pasta. The researchers are optimistic they will meet the qualifications of supervisors food and drug agency (FDA) United to mention health claims in the packaging.

Over the past few years scientists have learned that barley was included in the super food because the nutrients contained in it is very helpful heart health and digestion.

Is it true that Omega-6 Trigger Heart Disease?

Omega 6 fatty acids is a type of unsaturated fats (unsaturated fat) that is found in vegetable oils, nuts and seeds. If consumed sparingly, Omega-6 gave a great benefit to health especially keep the organ of the heart and brain.

But lately, it appears some of the controversy surrounding the omega-6. In fact, some studies claim, omega-6 are metabolized in the body can be turned into fat causes damage and inflammation of the blood vessels. Inflammation or damage that is what will cause constriction of blood vessels (arteries), which ultimately trigger heart disease.

Related to this, Donald Hensurd, MD, a preventive medicine experts from the Mayo Clinic says that it is simply not true. Even his opinion, the American Heart Association (AHA) has recommended that a person must fulfill 5-10 percent of daily calories from omega-6 fatty acids.

Some literature mentions, the need for omega-6 for healthy adults is 1-3 grams/day, if that amount is not met then it could potentially happen body metabolism disturbances.

Omega-6 fatty acids have some type of linoleic acid, gamma-linolenic acid and from arachidonic acid. The body converts linoleic acid to gamma-linolenic acid and from arachidonic acid.

Food sources rich in linoleic origin such as some vegetable oil (sunflower oil, soybean oil, corn oil, walnut oil and sesame oil), nuts (almonds and walnuts, cashew), and seeds (flax, hemp, sunflower, Sesame, and pumpkin). Foods that are high in gamma-linolenic acid is an acid such as evening primrose flower oil, borage oil, black currant seed oil. While the food is arakidonatnya acid levels high as animal meats, egg yolks and shellfish.

In some literature is mentioned, the intake of omega-6 fatty acids also have to be balanced with other essential fatty acids including omega-3. According to experts, the omega-3 fatty acids and omega-6 has a function related to each other. Both are working to synergize maintain healthy skin, nails, hair, the hormones, alleviate the symptoms of asthma, as well as preventing damage to the person with cancer.

That being the issue, the ratio of omega-3 and 6 are in balance is still a debate among experts. Some say 2.5 to 1, the figure of 2.5 to omega-6 and 1 for omega-3. There is also a said 4-to-1.

Hensurd said, if someone was concerned about the amount of intake of omega-6 who have their consumption, we recommend that you consult a doctor or replacing the menu foods that contain saturated fats with healthier choices.

Sweet Drinks Can Trigger Heart Disease and Diabetes

For those of you women who was fond of sweet drink chug should alert. Latest research shows, the habit of eating sugary drinks may increase the risk of vertebral turned out heart disease.

According to the latest research results presented at American Heart Association (AHA) Scientific Session 2011 in Orlando, Florida, USA, the Eve who consume two or more glasses of sweet drinks every day, even if they have a normal weight, experience increased risk of heart disease and diabetes. Sweet drinks in question here are carbonated drinks like soda or water with added sugar.

Researchers say, previous studies have been reviewed and found the relationship between sweet drinks and obesity, high blood lipids, hypertension, and diabetes type 2. But major study this time shows, there is a connection between sugary drinks and cardiovascular risk factors, the researchers said.

Head of research, Dr. Christina Shay, and Assistant Professor of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City to compare the effects of the consumption of sugary beverages on women middle-aged and older women.

The results show, women who downed two cups or more sweetened beverages every day tend to be more likely to have waist sizes bigger and have impaired fasting glucose levels. They are also almost four times more likely to experience increased levels of triglyceride-type blood fat associated with an increased risk of heart disease.

In a statement, Shay says, women who drink more than two glasses of sweet drinks a day increased his waist size, but not necessarily experienced weight gain.

"Most people assume that individuals who consume a lot of drink sweetener have increased obesity, which in turn, increases the risk of heart disease and diabetes. Although it was true, but this research indicates that the risk factors for heart disease and stroke remains even if women do not experience weight gain, "he added.

For this research, Shay and his colleagues are testing data of 4,166 volunteer ethnic African-Americans, Caucasians, Chinese-Americans and Hispanics who took part in the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA). Participants aged between 45-84 years.

During the observation period of five years, participants undergo examination related changes three times body weight, waist size, levels of HDL (good cholesterol), the levels of LDL (bad cholesterol), triglycerides, fasting glucose levels, and type 2 diabetes.

Shay and colleagues note, influence the metabolism of sweet drinks is about a "complex and not homogeneous between men and women".

Researchers expose, women generally requires fewer calories than men. So, when they consume sweet beverages porsinya will look taller and more prone to have cardiovascular disease.

But how exactly these drinks affect cardiovascular risk, and how the biological mechanisms that might be involved, it is still unclear and needs further investigation, said the researchers, who are planning to follow up on these findings.
